Hello World

Radhy

My first blog post for ProgNovel!

I previously always wanted a blog of my own but I procrastinated for months because I'm too lazy to learn popular static site generators like Gatsby or Hugo.

Ideas on making JAMstack blog based on Sapper has been on my mind for a while, which by default Sapper has very limited support on it. I tried on making markdown based blog, exposed to new things like glob and markdown-based things like frontmatter, but I failed because I couldn't make it happen back then.

What is ProgNovel?

Radhy

You don't know ProgNovel. I'm here to explain what it is, and to explain why it's going to be a big deal for webnovel community.

ProgNovel is an open source website that anyone could get for free. Like WordPress, anyone can access its source code, make a copy, edit, and hosted it somewhere--though, at the time this blog was written, ProgNovel still in very early and in an unstable stage, thus source code still unavailable for public.

Radhy

Cloudflare is awesome! Here in ProgNovel I use Cloudflare Workers as one of primary infastructure for serverless function, like fetching chapter documents stored in remote storage (currently in git repos as for staging), as well as an edge proxy servers to sit between (future) users and an image CDN resize proxy, currently being hosted on a Fly.io free server.

ProgNovel Loads Fast, Unmatched

Radhy

Let me make my bold claim first: ProgNovel loads very fast and its speed unmatched among novel websites. Other novel sites won't be as fast as ProgNovel, no matter how expensive their servers are--unless they rewrite their entire sites from scratch.

I'm still talking about ProgNovel free version that can be hosted on free hosting services. Not even tens of thousands dollars of server hosting can beat its speed.
